Saint Patrick's Day Shamrock

Shamrock

The shamrock has over the years become a symbol of Ireland. It is a form of clover and has the famous three-leafed pattern. The name shamrock is derived from Irish seamróg.

The shamrock became associated with Ireland because of the Irish tradition of wearing it in remembrance of Saint Patrick who was said to have used it to explain the holy trinity. Every year people send a sprig of shamrock to their relatives who no longer live at home in Ireland so that they can continue the tradition. Many people also order their own from websites such as this one.

It is said to be impossible to grow shamrock on any other country other than Ireland. This may have been proven wrong, but there is still nothing like the real thing grown at home in Ireland.

A nice sprig of shamrock makes a really good present for any person of Irish descent on Saint Patrick's Day, so when you order your own get another one or two.
